Instructor: Peter Hayes

This course explores how people grow and change throughout their lives, from infancy to old age. Students will learn about key child development theories, including how early relationships, learning patterns, and parenting styles shape a person’s growth. We will also study major ideas about how thinking and moral decision-making develop over time, as well as the physical and emotional changes of puberty, identity formation, and brain development. The course will also cover major life transitions in adulthood, such as careers, family, aging, and cognitive changes like dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.Through research, discussions, and real-world examples, students will better understand how people develop physically, mentally, and socially throughout their lives.
