From Beyoncé’s cultural impact to The Rock’s path to the American Dream, we’ll explore how entertainment shapes the way Americans dress, talk, and think. This isn't just a lecture—it’s a global exchange. You’ll compare U.S. trends with your home country’s traditions while discussing:

  • The Celebrity Effect: How stars influence social movements and fashion.
  • The Digital Age: The power of TikTok, memes, and viral moments.
  • Identity & Values: What movies and music tell us about diversity and family life in the States.

Get ready to participate in lively debates, creative projects, and deep dives into the media you already love!

This exciting add-on to MusicMovies & Culture takes your love of entertainment to the next level! In this interactive course, you’ll explore how music & movies around the world reflect real life, shape trends, and tell powerful cultural stories. Building on what you learned in class, you’ll compare popular music, films, and celebrities from the United States with those from your home country. What’s similar? What’s totally different? And what do those differences say about culture, values, and everyday life?You’ll get to choose your own examples—favorite songs, iconic movies, or famous celebrities—and dive into topics like family life, traditions, gender roles, and social issues. We’ll also look at how global stars influence fashion, language, and trends across countries.

Get ready to share your perspective, learn from others, and have fun discovering how entertainment connects us all—no matter where we’re from!

Meeting Times:

  • Session 1: Friday 5pm-9pm EST
  • Session 2: Saturday 9am-6pm EST
  • Session 3: Sunday 9am-1pm EST
